bleakness + beauty [in north wales] traces a road trip and two-week stay in North Wales by Terry Lane aka the closer we are to dying.
“The break was to escape. I was running away, not to hide but to confront life and death. I wanted somewhere remote, far away from my daily life. Somewhere alone with my dog where I could dwell on the state of my mental health, look back at my life, and to accept the passing of friends chronicled in my previous album, Life is Beautiful.
While recording this album, my head was full of darkness, sadness, but also love and a longing for something unreachable. This is another very personal album which expresses both the beauty and bleakness of my thoughts and the North Wales landscape.”
bleakness + beauty [in north wales] is released on Ombrelle Concrète on Friday 3rd January, 2025.
All songs written, performed and produced by Terry Lane. The album was recorded at Tan y Coed Canol (North Wales), Mellow Farm (Buckinghamshire) and Reculver Studio (Kent).
